CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Spok representatives are in Chicago this week meeting with
tech-savvy hospitals about how speeding the communication of critical
test results can improve clinician workflow and patient care. The Spok
team is demonstrating its critical
test results management (CTRM) and secure
texting solutions at the 100th annual meeting of the
Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
“We provide a management tool to automate the delivery of critical test
results to ordering physicians and care teams,” said Hemant Goel, Spok’s
chief operating officer. “By accelerating and automating this process,
we’re able to help our customers improve patient safety and quality of
care. Providers like the quick notifications, and radiology departments
can confirm results are received by viewing the CTRM dashboard which
contains a detailed audit trail of when all messages are sent and
received. Another important benefit to CTRM is its integration with a
patient’s electronic medical record (EMR) because it closes the
communication loop.”
Goel also noted that the CTRM solution handles all acuity levels, and is
helping emergency department physicians identify normal results sooner
for faster patient discharge. Additionally, it allows radiologists to
note incidental findings that may require further attention or follow-up
care.
Along with CTRM solutions, delivery via mobile applications is also a
popular trend at RSNA this year, as predicted in AuntMinnie,
one of the medical imaging industry’s primary Internet communities.
David Skoug, application engineer at Spok, anticipated
conversations about Spok Mobile, the Company’s secure texting app.
“Easily sharing test results is important to help patients receive
faster care, and texting is a popular solution. However, standard
texting isn’t HIPAA compliant if anything identifiable about the patient
is included. A number of physicians I’ve talked with are concerned about
that risk.”
More than 50,000 people attend RSNA each year to learn about the latest
radiology advancements, from scanning technology to workflow best
practices. Spok will continue to demo its CTRM and secure texting
solutions at the conference through Thursday, December 4. Spok is
located in booth 3104 in the South Building of McCormick Place, Hall A.
