Spok is committed to delivering Spok Go® using top security, availability, and confidentiality practices

SPRINGFIELD, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Spok, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Spok Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPOK) and a global leader in healthcare communications, has earned System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type II compliance for Spok Go® solutions, along with Spok paging solutions. This designation follows an audit performed by a Big 4 auditor. Developed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the audit confirms that Spok’s information security practices, policies, procedures, and operations meet the SOC 2 Type II standards for managing customer data based on three trust service principles: security, availability and confidentiality.

“I am proud to report that Spok has maintained SOC 2 Type II compliance certification on our solutions for the past three years,” said Vincent D. Kelly, president and chief executive officer of Spok Holdings, Inc. “We are particularly pleased that this year our team has completed the audit for our new Software as a Service (SaaS) platform, Spok Go, which is an enterprise-wide communications solution purpose-built in the cloud for healthcare.”

The SOC 2 compliance certification is the most widely recognized method for sharing independently reviewed information about a service organization’s internal controls. The accreditation means that Spok solutions meet or exceed the levels of security required for service providers storing customer data in the cloud.

“Spok is committed to delivering Spok Go and all of our solutions employing security best practices,” said John LaLonde, Chief Technology Officer of Spok, Inc. “Cybersecurity has become a top priority for executives in all industries, but especially in healthcare. By earning SOC 2 Type II compliance for our Spok Go platform, we are now in position to provide our customers with additional level of security controls for protecting patient data. Maintaining the highest levels of security and compliance is always at the forefront when building and maintaining Spok solutions.”

“Spok solutions have been put to the test, and our SOC 2 Type II certifications demonstrate that they meet the rigorous requirements needed to protect sensitive information,” said Tim Tindle, Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer of Spok, Inc. “These accomplishments assure our customers that Spok solutions offer the flexibility and security they need for critical communications. Spok adheres to the highest levels of security across our company and our customers can be confident that their messages will be delivered safely.”
